This assembly guide is not a replacement for your bicycle’s user manual. The user manual contains important safety, performance, and technical information specific to your bicycle. You should read the entire bicycle owner’s manual as it has additional important, general information and instructions you should follow. If you don’t have a copy of the owner’s manual, you can download it from the manufacturer’s website. Additional assembly, safety, performance, and service information for specific components such as suspension or pedals on your bicycle or accessories such as helmets or lights, may also be available.

WARNING!

Proper assembly requires basic mechanical skills and a set of quality tools. If you are unsure about the proper setup of your bicycle, it should be assembled by an Authorized Retailer.

Correct tightening force on fasteners (nuts, bolts, screws) on your bicycle is important for your safety. If too little force is applied, the fastener may not hold securely. If too much force is applied, the fastener can strip threads, stretch, deform or break. An incorrect tightening force can result in component failure, which can cause you to lose control and fall. Where indicated, ensure each bolt is torqued to specification. After your first ride, and consistently thereafter, recheck the tightness of each bolt to ensure secure attachment of the components. The torque specifications for the bicycle build can be found in the user manual supplied with the bicycle (where applicable) or printed on the part near the bolt you are torquing.

You will need the following tools:

4, 5, 6, and 8mm hex keys

Philips head screwdriver

Pedal wrench

Torque wrench (where applicable)

We sell the Bike Assembly & Maintenance Set, pictured, and other bike specific tools on our website.

Un-Packing

Take all bike parts out of the box and remove packaging materials.

Install Handlebars

Use a hex wrench to loosen the bolts securing the stem face plate and remove the face plate. Place the handlebar in the stem and verify the brake and shift cables wrap around the frame without kinks or twisting.

Reinstall the stem face plate and bolts in place. Center the handlebar in the stem and rotate the handlebar to a comfortable position. Tighten all the stem bolts with the hex key.

Install Seatpost

Open the seatpost binding bolt, then slide the seatpost into the frame. Ensure the seatpost is inserted past the minimum insertion line marked on the post. The seat post need to be inserted in the frame at least 4 inches.  Tighten the binding bolt.If your bike has a D-Fuse seat post check out the supplemental video below for more information.

Install Front Wheel

Please see your bike owner’s manual for details on installing the wheel. These directions are for wheels with thru-axle and disc brake. If you have quick release skewer, and or rim brakes refer to the manual that comes with your bike.

Summary:

  • Remove the front brake pad spacer from the caliper. Do not pull the brake lever with the wheel removed and without a brake pad spacer installed.
  • Install the front wheel into the fork ensuring the disc brake/rotor is between the brake pads.
  • Slide the axle in from left to right. Rotate the lever (clockwise).
  • The lever leaves a clear imprint in the palm of your hand when sufficiently tightened.

Install Pedals

Use wrench to tighten. Pedals are side specific and are usally marked L and R.

When tightening, both pedal threads will rotate forward toward the front of the bicycle.

Adjustments & Safety Check

Adjust seat height. It should be about hip level when you’re standing next to the bike.

Check Tires

Inflate the tires to the manufacturer’s recommended pressure, which is marked on the tire sidewall.

Verify Brakes Work

Roll bike back and forth slightly while operating the brakes.

WARNING!

Before the first ride and routinely thereafter before each ride, perform the safety checks outlined in the Owner’s Manual to ensure the bicycle is safe to ride. Failure to follow this warning can result in serious personal injury.
